SEALERS

Single pack, high solids durable acrylic resin solution offering high build with excellent gloss to seal and finish interior & exterior Masonry.

USES:

1. May be used to seal and finish interior & exterior substrates including concrete, masonry, slate and pavers.
2. Urethane Coatings CONCRETE & PAVING GLOSS offers a clear, hard-wearing yet flexible finish and provides excellent resistance to weathering.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

1. Check that the surface to be coated is stable and free of any loose grit, sand or dirt.
2. Thoroughly clean and ensure the surface to be coated is completely dry.

APPLICATION:

NB : Do not use Urethane coatings CONCRETE & PAVING GLOSS at temperatures below 10°C or above 30°C

1. Apply with a mohair roller, or brush, allow 3-4 hours to dry. Do not return unused material to the can.  For optimal performance, previously uncoated surfaces will need 3 coats and previously surfaces will need 2 coats respectively.
2. Suitable for light foot traffic 24 hours after final coat.

COVERAGE:

Approximately 10m² per litre.  Rough surfaces and/or unsealed porous substrates approximately 6m² per litre.  CONCRETE & PAVING GLOSS is ready to use from the drum, however URETHANE COATINGS THINNERS may be added if CONCRETE & PAVING GLOSS has thickened, or if a higher coverage and a thinner coat is required.

CLEAN UP;

Thoroughly clean the roller brush and equipment in URETHANE COATINGS CLEANING SOLVENT.  Dry all equipment before reusing.

MAINTENANCE:

As the coating begins to show signs of weathering (dull and dry, or reduced water repellency), recoat with up to two coats of Urethane Coatings CONCRETE & PAVING GLOSS, applying as detailed under ‘Application’.

SHELF LIFE:

This product is best if used within 12 months from manufacture (refer to batch number), when stored in unopened containers under normal conditions of temperature and humidity.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS:

Usage of this material must be under well ventilated conditions to minimise inhalation of vapours.  Wear respirator with filters that conform with AS1716. Prevent skin contact by wearing impervious gloves, safety boots and overalls. Breathing of vapour is harmful and may cause lung irritation and allergic respiratory reaction. May irritate skin and eyes. Keep container firmly lidded, as this product cures when exposed to air. In case of spillage, absorb into dry sand or dirt. Remove from work area and dispose of in a responsible manner.

WARNING FLAMMABLE:

This drum contains volatile and flammable solvents and when applying the contents adequate ventilation to the outside must be provided. All potential sources of ignition (open flames, pilot lights, furnaces, spark producing electrical switches, etc.) must be eliminated in or near the working area. DO NOT SMOKE. Keep drum closed when not in use.

FIRST AID:

If affected by inhalation of vapour, remove victim to fresh air. Obtain medical treatment immediately. If breathing is difficult administer Oxygen. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Seek urgent medical attention.

A rapid drying timber sealer for all timber species, cork and particle board. May be mixed with fine saw dust to slurry consistency, for use as a filler for timber seams. SILVERSEAL is highly flexible, and therefore when worked well into tongue & groove seams prevents entry of the subsequent coat of Polyurethane and can virtually eliminate edge bonding. Also available in a HIGH SOLIDS variant, offering greater build properties.

USES:

SILVERSEAL can be used as an interior first coat for the following materials.

1. All types of cork tiles.
2. Pine species – Radiata, Baltic, Cypress.
3. Particle Board
4. All species of HARDWOODS. Fine sand Hardwood to a smooth finish. Hardwoods must not be burnished and grain must remain open. Accordingly, Urethane Coatings recommend nothing finer than 120 grit paper or equivalent is used to finish sanding new hardwood floors or to finish sanding old hardwood floors back to bare timber. Ensure the timber surface if free from dust, wax or oily substances.

EDGE BONDING:

As SILVERSEAL is highly flexible, it will virtually eliminate EDGE BONDING if it is heavily applied and worked into the seams, thereby preventing entry of the subsequent coat of MONOTHANE. Where seams are in excess of 1mm, they can be filled with a mixture of TIMBERSEAL and fine sanding dust forced into the seam with the edge of a steel trowel.

APPLICATION:

Fine sand to a smooth finish (Not finer than #120 mesh). Hardwoods must not be burnished and grain must remain open. Vacuum thoroughly. Ensure the timber surface if free from dust, wax or oily substances.

2. Apply SILVERSEAL with a roller, lambs wool applicator or brush. Allow 30-40 minutes to dry. Do not return unused material to the can.
3. Thoroughly clean the mohair roller, lamb’s wool applicator or brush in URETHANE COATINGS CLEANING SOLVENT. Dry all equipment before reusing.
4. To finish a complete system apply one or two coats of MONOTHANE GLOSS or one coat of MONOTHANE GLOSS and one coat of MONOTHANE SEMI GLOSS, MONOTHANE SATIN or MONOTHANE MATT. Urethane Coatings CATALYST may be added to the first coat of MONOTHANE GLOSS to accelerate curing.

NOTE: SILVERSEAL may also be coated with DUOTHANE PART A / DUOTHANE PART B, DUOTHANE FAST A / DUOTHANE PART B, or TUNGSEAL.

A single-pack, high gloss, UV resistant, moisture-curing aliphatic polyurethane concrete sealer. When cured, BETONTHANE™ UV 40 provides an extremely tough and hardwearing film with excellent resistance to yellowing.

USES:
BETONTHANE™ UV 40 may be used as a varnish, or protective glaze-coat for trafficable areas. BETONTHANE™ UV 40 is suitable for both interior and exterior application.

Substrate Preparation

Application:
Newly Applied Concrete:
Is to be cured for a minimum of 14 days. Concrete is to be free from all contaminates, i.e. grease, oil, loose particles and cleaning agents.

Older Concrete:
Pre-prepare the concrete with diluted surfactant to degrease and wash with a high-pressure cleaner. Make sure all degreasing agent is removed and the concrete is dry before moving onto the next step.

a) Acid etch concrete with hydrochloric acid (HCL). Dilution rate: 1L HCL to 20L water. (Always add the water first and the acid second to avoid potential splashing of the acid.). Smoother concrete will require a higher concentration of HCL.

b) Apply evenly over the concrete with a plastic watering bucket. Pressure wash with water immediately after (before the acid dries) with a pressure of 2500PSI.

c) Allow the surface to dry completely before sealing.

d) Only apply BETONTHANE™ UV 40 if surface is dry and contaminate free.

e) BETONTHANE™ UV 40 is supplied in ready-touse pails. Please homogenize the product by mechanically mixing before application. AVOID INTRODUCING AIR into the product when mixing.

First Coat Application:
a) For non-porous surfaces dilute first coat of BETONTHANE™ UV 40 with Urethane
Coatings Thinners at a 50:50 ratio. This will provide better substrate wetting and improved
bonding.

b) Use a 4-8mm mohair pile nap roller for application.

Second Coat Application:
a) Apply the second coat between 8-18 hours after the first coat.

b) This will depend on temperature & humidity conditions. If re-coat window has been missed the first coat will have to be abraded, loose particles removed, and solvent wiped before the second coat can be applied.

c) Urethane Coatings Non-Skid 150 Slip Resistant additive can be added to the final coat. Please refer to Urethane Coatings Non-Skid 150 datasheet.

Cure Time:
1. Foot Traffic after a minimum of 48 hours.
2. Vehicular Traffic after a minimum of 72 hours. Cure time supplied is approximate and will depend on thickness of coating, temperature & humidity conditions.

Coverage:
Betonthane™ UV40 has a coverage rate of 3m2 -10m2 per Litre. (Depending on concrete porosity).

Storage:
BETONTHANE™ UV 40 should be stored under cover, out of direct sunlight in a cool and wellventilated space. DO NOT store near oxidants or reducing agents and keep away from all potential ignition sources.

Shelf Life:
Shelf life of sealed BETONTHANE™ UV 40 in its original container is 12 months from the date of manufacture. If stored longer than 12 months, product must be rechecked for suitability in the intended application.
